The 2007 Potomac Conference convened area business, nonprofit, and government executives to discuss enhancing Greater Washington’s competitive advantage through environmental stewardship. AmericaSpeaks partnered with the Washington Board of Trade to address how the region can leverage green policy and business practice to improve productivity, business growth, and quality of life.

AmericaSpeaks facilitated discussions to identify and then vote on draft priorities for a Regional Leadership Action Agenda. Four priorities were chosen: research and education campaigns on region’s green assets & practices; business incentives for sustainable activities; a regional greenhouse gas reduction target; support regional plans for transit-oriented development and alternative transportation. The Board of Trade is establishing a new Regional Committee on Green Advantages to advance these priorities and an overall Regional Leadership Action Agenda.
